Asthma is a wide-spread condition that affects over five million people in the UK and is more serious than many people think. In fact, more people die each year of asthma than cervical cancer and testicular cancer combined.

One of the main triggers in aggravating asthma symptoms is the house dust mite and their droppings. Researchers estimate that these microscopic creatures may cause up to 80% of asthma attacks as well as countless cases of eczema. When they come into contact with our skin or are inhaled, this can cause allergic reactions. As well as eczema, other dust mite allergy symptoms include watering eyes, itching, sneezing and a runny nose!

Dust mites thrive in humid conditions, as their only source of water is from the air. This means that if there are high levels of relative humidity in a home this is the perfect breeding ground for dust mite populations. The higher the humidity, the quicker they will breed.
